Here is a recap of my Senior Project experience and my advice to future students!
|
Major Goals
- Raise Awareness
- Raise Money
- Learn more about Autism and how to aid them in a school setting
- Bring support to the Autism Community
Term 2 Goals:
- Begin manufacturing my product and beginning to sell them. I have finalized designs, reached out to companies, and began spreading the word of my project to ensure that I will have people to buy my sweatshirt.
- Begin my observations and gain some knowledge regarding how Autism and other intellectual disabilities affect students in a classroom environment. I hope to have done at least one in person observation by the next benchmark.
- Keep scheduling dates for observation
- Get the school’s approval for a field trip and prepare some benchmark questions to answer while I am observing.
- Expand my outreach and raise awareness for Autism by being active on social media and sharing my project to as many people as I can!
Fieldwork
My fieldwork will consist of observing a classroom in a local elementary school to understand how children with Autism and other learning disabilities function and to fully grasp some of their struggles. This information is important to write my research paper and spread awareness. Additionally, my fieldwork will consist of me planning, designing, and executing my fundraiser. With the unprecedented times that we are in, I have to plan how to effectively plan an online fundraiser. I will need to create an online platform, design my sweatshirts, create and distribute them. All my fieldwork will ensure that I can make the puzzle piece project successful and achieve my goals.
